Michele Valentine Senior Editor michele@lighthousestrategicgroup.com Michele Valentine has more than 11 years of experience in electronic publishing, including online editing in text and basic HTML, proofreading, writing, and research, with demonstrated expertise in substantive editing and copyediting. Michele began her editing career, after attending Villa Julie College and the Center for the Media Arts, with a position as a captioner at the National Captioning Institute (NCI) in Vienna, VA, where she created and edited live-display captions; directed real-time captioners during on-air, live television broadcasts; and performed extensive proofreading of program and commercial transcripts, balancing grammar, punctuation, and stylistic convention to audio and video. Following her tenure at NCI, Michele moved to a position as the superivsor of CNN transcripts at Federal Document Clearing House (FDCH), developing the CNN Transcript Division; hiring and supervising a staff of transcript editors; and creating style guides and procedures for transcription and editing of CNN daily programming. When FDCH was awarded a contract to perform transcript services for ABC News and ABCNews.com, they called on Michelešs experience with CNN to develop and manage the newly acquired division of their company. After FDCH, Michele worked as an editor for clients of Editorial Experts, Inc., including Washingtonpost.com and Bowne of Washington, before joining Circle.com in May of 2000 to edit Web content, corporate identity products, and presentations for clients such as Mobil, GreatMeals, the Washington Redskins, AOL, and as a Web/proposal editor for CSR, Incorporated's Editing and Publications department. Over the years, Michele has provided captioning and editing services to several companies, including Alderson Reporting (Caption Express), Henninger Media Services, Haynes and Associates, and Rich By Choice, servicing clients such as the U.S. Government, the Discovery Channel, Syncrofilm, Cigital, LM&O, and Cable & Wireless, to name a few.
